A ‘goal’ is defined as “the result or achievement toward which effort is directed.” Did you notice the word ‘effort.’ When setting up a goal you don’t just scribble it down, sit back and watch it happen. It is up to the goal-setter to work their butt off and get that goal done. One must also set realistic goals. Yes, I want 10,000 page views a day and over 1000 subscribers, but chances are stacked well against me for that; I am okay knowing that.
A goal may not always be achieved, but it can be used as a learning point. What did I do wrong? What could I have done better to reach my goal? Was my goal to lofty, soft, unobtainable, or was it because I didn’t put in the work necessary to get it? How will I use this new knowledge to my advantage?
Money and Blog is a new blog, and I am a new blogger. This whole world is a new learning experience for me, like kindergarten in school. And just like any student, a blogger must set his/her goals. Here are some goals for myself and my blog, Money and Blog, for the year 2008.
- Transfer to a new host and set up Wordpress
- Create my own banner by the end of February
- Create my own template by the end of 2008 (After I set and reach goals on how to configure html, CSS)
- Obtain 50 subscribers within the next 6 months
- Keep those subscribers for the rest of the year (Important to maintain your goals as well
- Acquire 1000 page views a week
- By the end of the year, make 100 dollars a month from affiliates/programs
- Receive one trackback link per blog entry written
I feel these goals are all very obtainable by the end of 2008. To reach these goals, I will strive to reach the user-base out there. More info will be published, and it will be information that will help you to be successful. I will put homework on hold and put the blog first if it comes down to it. These goals are something I want… something I really, really want. And if you are setting goals, you should really, really want it as well.
If these goals are all met, I will expand upon them, making them larger and harder on myself, but that is what I want.
